International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is regarded around the world for its quality, academic rigor, and holistic approach to education. The IB program prepares participants for success in college by encouraging students to think critically and analyze complex issues through a global lens. In recognition of the International Baccalaureate’s value, and the preparation that IB students receive for university study and life beyond, Loyola University New Orleans offers up to 30 credits for successful completion of IB courses. What Is the International Baccalaureate?
The mission of the International Baccalaureate is to develop caring and inquisitive young people who have a desire to improve the world. Established in 1968, the IB works in collaboration with educational institutions, governments, and world organizations to provide a continuum of education with an emphasis on intercultural understanding and social justice. Students ages 16-19 may complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP), which covers six core subject areas: language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, science, math, and the arts.

Earn Credit for Your International Baccalaureate Experience
If you complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, you may be eligible to receive up to 30 credits at Loyola, which is equivalent to one full year of study, or sophomore status. If you have taken International Baccalaureate courses but have not completed the Diploma Programme, you may still be eligible to receive college credit. Credits will be awarded for Higher Level or Standard Level courses with grades of 5, 6, or 7.
You must submit an official IB score report for evaluation in order to be eligible to receive credit. Students in the United Statues must do so within 60 days from the date of registration, and international students must submit their score within 90 days from the date of registration.
